In this early werewolf story from the ancient Greeks, King Lycaon was turned into a wolf by Zeus. The picture is based on a 1589 engraving by the artist Hendrik Goltzius—an illustration for one of the many myths in Ovid’s famous narrative poem Metamorphoses.
